Blue Crabs add Ryan Speier And Charlie Manning

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have added former major league relievers Ryan Speier And Charlie Manning to their bullpen for the 2012 season.

Ryan Speier pitched in the major leagues for the Colorado Rockies from 2005 to 2009. He compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.99 ERA. In 2010, Speier joined Southern Maryland and was 3-4 with a 3.36 ERA in 56.1 innings pitched. Last season, he pitched for the Nippon Fighters in the Japan Pacific League where we was 4-8 with a 4.60 ERA.

Charlie Manning returns to the Southern Maryland for his second season. He was originally a 9th round selection (275th overall) by the New York Yankees in 2001 MLB Amateur Draft.  He spent seven seasons in the Yankees and Reds organizations before making it to the major leagues with the Washington Nationals in 2008. In 2008, he had a 1-3 record that season with a 5.14 ERA in 42 innings for the Nationals. Last season, Manning had 2-3 record with a 4.04 ERA with the Blue Crabs.
