Blue Crabs continue signings! Ink Green, Owens, and Morlan

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs continued building their 2012 roster with the resigning of pitcher Nick Green, Eduardo Morlan, and player/coach Jeremy Owens.

Nick Green was orginally drafted by the Anahiem (Los Angeles) Angels in the 35th round (1043rd overall) of the 2004 MLB Amauter draft. He pitched for the Angels organization for five seasons with his best coming in 2007 with Arkansas Travelers when he had a 10-8 record with a 3.68 ERA. From 2009 t0 2010, he pitched in the Brewers organization. Last season Green had 11-6 record with a 3.96 ERA in 150 innings with the Blue Crabs.

Eduardo Morlan was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 3rd round (91st overall) MLB Amateur Draft. He pitched four seasons in the Twins organization before he was traded to the Tampa Ray Devil Rays as part of the Delmon Young trade in 2007. From 2008-10, Morlan spent much of his time with Tampa Bay's Double-A affiliate Montgomery. Morlan signed with he the Blue Crabs in 2011, and went 1-1 with a 1.96 ERA in 36.2 innings pitched. On June 4, 2011 he was signed by Atlanta Braves organization and was sent to Mississippi in the Southern League where he had a 6.25 ERA in 5.2 innings.

Jeremy Owens has been a member of the Blue Crabs since their conception in 2008. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 8th round (232nd overall) in the 1998 MLB Amateur Draft. He played in the Padres and Red Sox from 1998 to 2004, and adanvced as high as Triple-A in 2002 (Portland) and 2004 (Pawtucket). In 2005, he signed with the Somerset Patriots and hit .290 with 24 home runs and 77 RBI's that season. After his brief stint in the Atlantic League he went back to affiliated ball in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization where he'd play for the next three seasons. Owens signed with the Blue Crabs in 2008, and has been a mainstay ever since.

Owens has 74 home runs, 239 RBI's and 61 RBI's in his career with Southern Maryland. In 2010, he became the Blue Crab's hitting coach.
