Blue Crabs sign Bridger Hunt, and Christian Lopez

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs announced on Monday that they have signed infielder Bridger Hunt, and catcher Christian Lopez.

Bridger Hunt
was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 9th round (263rd overall) of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. He played played four seasons in the Dodgers organization before he was released mid-way through the 2010 season. On May 25, 2010 he signed a contract with the Long Island Ducks. In 38 games for the Ducks he hit .259 with 1 home run, 13 RBI, and 7 stolen bases. Hunt started the 2011 season with the Rockland Boulders in the CAN-AM League but came to Southern Maryland in July. He finished the 2011 season with a .281 batting average, 2 home runs, and 5 stolen bases.

Christian Lopez
has been a member of the Blue Crabs for the past two seasons. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (Tampa Bay Rays) in the 6th round (158th overall) of the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft. He played six seasons in the Rays organization with his best coming in 2005 with Southwest Michigan(A) when he hit .281 with 3 home runs and 20 RBI in only 38 games. In 2007, he was promoted to Triple-A in Durham. Last season for Southern Maryland he had a career highs in home runs (9), RBI (42), and stolen bases (9).
