James Shanks returns to York for 3rd season

The York Revolution announced on Friday that they have signed James Shanks for the 2012 season.

This will be Shanks third season with York, and his fifth in the Atlantic League (play for Southern Maryland in 2008 and 2009). Last season, Shanks hit .314 with 12 home runs, 61 RBI and 15 stolen bases for the Revolution. Shanks has been major part of the York's back-to-back Atlantic League Championships.

Shanks was originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 21st round (617th overall) of the 1998 MLB Amateur Draft. He played five seasons in Royals organization before signing with Florida Marlins in 2004. He advanced to Triple-A twice in the Marlins organization with Albuquerque in 2005 and 2006.

The York Revolution blog, Blogtoblogchamps does a great write up about Shanks on their blog. I highly suggest checking it out!
