Lancaster acquires Cesar Nicolas in three-way deal

On Monday, the Lancaster Barnstormers acquired Cesar Nicolas in a three-way deal with York, and Grand Prairie of the American Association. 

Nicolas was a 5th round selection (146th overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2004 MLB Amatuer Draft out of Vanderbilt University. He played four seasons in the Diamondbacks organization with his best coming in 2005 with South Bend(A) when he hit .302 with 21 home runs, and 70 RBI. In 2009, he signed with Grand Prairie of the American Association and hit .335 with 14 home runs, and 103 RBI in only 96 games. On September 11, 2009, he was acquired by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs for future considerations. He hit .289 with 4 home runs, and 10 RBI in only 10 games for the Blue Crabs. In 2010, he played for Erie in the Detroit Tigers organization and hit .279 with 7 home runs and 38 RBI. He started the 2011 season with Detroit's Triple-A affiliate, Toledo but was released only after 7 games (served a 50 games suspension), and signed with Grand Prairie of the American Association.
