Barnstormers Ink Two

The Lancaster Barnstormers announced today that they have signed catcher Fransisco Hernandez and outfielder Fehlandt Lentini for the 2012 season.

Fransisco Hernandez signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago White Sox in 2002. He played five seasons in the White Sox organization and had a .276 batting average with 30 home runs and 183 RBI. After he was released by the White Sox, he played three seasons for the Las Estrellas de Oriente in the Dominican Winter League.  Last season, he played with Rio Grande Valley of the North American.

Fehlandt Lentini signed as undrafted free agent with the Houston Astros in 2001. He played four seasons in the Astros organization. His best season came in 2002 with Michigan when he hit .289 with 35 RBI and 25 stolen bases. Since 2005, he has played for various teams across the independent landscape including Kalamozoo (Frontier League), Calgary (Northern League/Golden League), Gary (Northern League), Winnepeg (Northern League/American Association), Maui (Golden League), and Amarillo (American Association). He has a .320 batting average with 59 triples, 72 home runs, 410 RBI and 286 stolen bases in his independent career. He also has experience at the Triple-A level in the Mexican League with Tijuana in 2008, and Nuevo Lardeo in 2009.

Fehlandt Lentini seems to have success in any league he plays in. He hits for average, and steals bases. I think he hits in nicely at the top of the Barnstormers order.
