Bluefish Sign Daryl Jones

The Bridgeport Bluefish announced the signing of first baseman Daryl Jones on Friday.

Daryl Jones was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 4th round (102nd overall) of the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft. He played four seasons in the Padres organization, compiling 21 home runs, 130 RBI and a .242 batting average. From 2008 to 2011 he had stops in the Edinburg (United League), Long Beach (Golden League),  Amarillo (United League), Florence (Frontier League) and San Angelo (North American League) Last season he had career highs in home runs (28), RBI (90) and batting average (.345) for San Angelo in the North American League.

Jones is only 26 years old and his hitting the prime of his career. He had career highs in almost every offensive category last season. He's a solid hitter who can swipe a few bases if needed. He's a nice addition to the Bluefish lineup.
